Brief Biography:
I have been an avid Whitetail hunter for years but have recently been introduced to Waterfowl and became addicted after the first hunt. I still enjoy all hunting and fishing as well and try to get out whenever I can. I have two boys in training. It is a great joy to share my passion with my boys and see the same thrill in their eyes.

Hey-thanks! Yes, that doe was from this season- on October 10th. That's awesome you have time off starting November 5th!! They are starting to move! I've had the most amazing week I've ever had. I've had one shooter buck every time I've gone out the last 6 times! I actually had a 160 class 10-pointer this morning come right under my stand but I just couldn't get a shot I was comfortable taking. GOD BLESS NOVEMBER!!! Good luck! Keep me updated!

This cool weather has me fired up too!!! I feel like my senses are coming alive again!!! I had a great summer- thank you! I placed in -I believe- the two biggest 3-D shoots in Iowa this summer! Also have a lot of great trail cam bucks we've been watching for months and hope to meet this fall (one is Chainsaw that has 16-17 points!)! How about you- how was your summer?

That is great you were in Canada! My entire extended family went up to Lac Seul for a week at the beginning of August, but my husband and I got left behind Sad because he's going back to school and I couldn't take that much time off from my job. How did you guys do then? Where in Canada did you go?

Well as long as your boss is understanding! Ha ha! I have buck fever too- come October 1st, I'll be in my tree and not at my desk! Ha ha! Hope you have great luck this fall and keep me updated! Please send me any photos too and I'll put you in The Iowa Sportsman's Trophy Room page! Smile

Yeah, the shed bucks are the only bad thing about late seasons! Hope you had luck! I'm surprised you haven't heard of shed traps before! It's where you set up an area with feed so when bucks are eating their antlers get bumped or have a bit of pressure and fall off when ready. Then you can check these areas and if you are lucky a shed will just be laying there! I'll add a photo of my husband's homemade shed trap with bungees- he got a really nice shed out of it. The only thing is we didn't get it out soon enough this year because all of them we know of in our area have shed now. So we've been walking a LOT! I suck at it though- my husband has found seven so far and I'm up to only one! Lol! I got a new prescription of my contacts today though so I'm ready to go out and spot um now! Haha! I'll also add a few photos of the ones we have found.

Yeah, they are definitely where the food is! That's great you got so many does. My husband and brother didn't end up getting a muzzleloader buck. My husband hit a great one, but unfortunately it was a shoulder shot and we couldn't retrieve it. My brother ended up getting sick after hunting this weather a week straight, so he didn't get out as much as he was planning. Well, all the seasons are finally completed. It's shed hunting time now! Too bad I always suck at it- my husband has found 3 already though! He also just put out a homemade shed trap (first time we've ever tried a trap), so we'll see if it works or not. Most of our deer have already shed though.

My early bow season ended well. I didn't get a big buck, but I did get a buck on film with my dad hunting with me for the first time, so that was pretty special. If I can tough it out, I'm going to try to get a doe with my bow on film before late season closes. I'm horrible with cold weather, so we'll see how that goes!

My husband and my brother have been out muzzleloading, but haven't had any luck so far. They are having a pretty tough time actually. I'll let you know how we finish up!

We don't hunt in the Macksburg area. We hunt south of Winterset and around Peru and Truro. My grandpa has a farm between Lorimor and Macksburg though that the guys might try a few days during muzzleloader though. Why? Is that an area you hunt?

Yes, we are both lucky to be from the southern Iowa area! Yeah, lots of people have had a tough season this year. Somehow, everyone in my family had a decent year, but that was after a really bad season last year! It comes and goes for everyone doesn't it! At least you got some does! Hope you have good luck late season!!!!
