The year is going good so far with 61 ducks down and 9 honkers. Im not the best caller in the world I am still in the learning phase. I keep my calls in the vehicle with me most of the time and listen to CD and try to make myself sound like them. I also listen to ducks call while hunting and try to mimic their sounds. I think the most important thing is to get a call that your comfortable with. Did you get your lab yet? I have a black male that is 1 and this is his first season.

Iv had male labs all my life, my current lab is a female and Ill never bye another male again. The females just live to make you happy from the getgo. Males are so frikin stubburn. If you want to breed em in the future gont get em cut, it calms em down a bit but on the downside they tend to gain weight easily. Have fun

Depends if you get your pup in the spring or fall. If in the spring get to trainin right away and you basically have a year to get her ready. If in the fall just gun break her, and work with her on dead ducks. I would wait till the next killin season, Just take your time!!!

hey riot, yes I do use a spinning wing decoy. it is a MOJO with variable remote so I can set the number of seconds I want it to cycle on and off. It works well.

We use Robo ducks, but not very often. They do work, especially during the early season.

Pheasant tips hunting? Stop every now and then just silently stand in place. It might unnerve a bird that is sitting tight waiting for you to pass by.

That is an air brush. They are very easy to use and work well for finer detail work, like feathers.

Guided waterfowl hunt costs vary here. Seems to me most places I check charge $150 USD per hunter per hunt/day and up. Depends on what is included, area, species, methods, etc.

The layout blinds are effective for both field and light marsh areas. You need a Neo tub or other way to waterproof the bottom of the layout blind for shallow water use. The layout blinds are worth every penny. There is no better way to hide in the decoys without digging pit blinds. I use Xlander blinds. I have 5 of them in the goose trailer and every crew member has one of their own.

I have been on several guided hunts over the years, but have yet to leave the North American Continent. New Zealand would be a great place to visit and hunt no doubt. I'm sure that finding customers wouldn't be all that difficult if you are serious about guiding. If it is your dream, persue it. A person should love their work. The amount of satisfaction one gets from their career is more important than the amount of money they earn for their efforts. I know plenty of rich..... and unhappy people. If you decide to guide waterfowl hunters, we might have to meet in person.
